出 Chū | "To Exit, To Produce" 岀 | Exit, Produce

In its early form, 出 was a pictographic depiction of grass sprouting from the ground and meant "to grow". Today, 出 means “to exit” or “to produce", like when growing grass exits the ground and produces vegetation, and is a compound ideograph consisting of the 凵 radical and 屮 sprout.

Words such as: 出访 “visit”, 出发 “departure”, and 出轨 “derailed” use 出 as “to exit” or “out”. While, words such as 出产 “production”, 出品 ”publisher”, and 出人才 “talent” use 出 as the verb “to produce”.
